Ankle boots are a staple in my wardrobe, pretty much all year round. At last count, I owned in the region of 10 pairs but my collection continues to grow, much to the horror/amusement of my boyfriend (“Why do you need so many pairs…how many pairs of feet do you have?!”)!
They’re the perfect Autumn/Winter choice of footwear, but I wear mine through spring and summer too – let’s face it, the Irish climate is less than tropical! But as we all notice the shift in the temperature over the last week or two, I’ve put together my top picks that are in the shops at the moment.
1. Brown Leather Western Ankle Boots (River Island, €75) – P.S. Elle Magazine have a 25% off code for River Island in this month’s issue…don’t miss it if you’re making any purchases!
Tan is a great alternative to black, and the Western style of these boots is really on trend. The heel height is perfect for everyday wear, and they’re super versatile, meaning you’d get loads of wear out of them! Plus with the discount code, they’re really good value!
2. Dark Red Leather Heeled Chelsea Ankle Boots (River Island, €75) – P.S…again, don’t forget that discount code above!
I love the colour of these boots – it doesn’t show well in the photo, but they’re a deep oxblood colour ♥. The style is really understated and chic, but the colour keeps them interesting, as does the little gold trim above the heel at the back. These would be gorgeous with skinnies and a plain tee/tank or a shirt for a polished but casual look.
3. Flat Leather Ankle Boots (Zara, €59.95)
I recently purchased this pair from Zara to replace a very similar pair I have that are on the way out after being worn to death! Chelsea boots are a timeless pick when it comes to ankle boots, and you will get SO much wear out of these. I end up wearing mine at least every second day, because they’re so comfortable, they go with just about everything, they’re warm and they’re stylish. When I worked in a very corporate environment with a strict dress code, I even got away with wearing these into the office with skinny black trousers and a blouse. This pair come in a brownish colour too, which Zara call khaki, but they are more brown/tan in real life!
4. Kikki Fringe Trim Pistol Ankle Boot (Boohoo, €35)
Boohoo are brilliant for on-trend fashion at really affordable prices, and the quality is usually spot-on. In my biker post, I mentioned the love for fringing we’ve seen this year, so these boots are another nod to that. The low stacked heel gives you a bit of height while still being able to walk in them!
5. Freya Fringed Peep Toe Shoe Boot (Boohoo, €35)
I’m a little bit in love with these khaki beauties from Boohoo – from the fringing to the gorgeous colour and suede finish…and for a €35 price tag?! I’d pair these with cute little dresses, skinny jeans or leather trousers…perfection!
6. High Heel Stretch Leather Ankle Boot (Zara, €69.95)
I genuinely feel that I need these in my life. The cut of these boots, the suede, the heel…these are some seriously sexy shoes 😍 Not exactly boots for running around all day in, but perfect for car to chair kind of situations!
7. Suede Ankle Boots (Penneys, €15)
Penneys is always a good old reliable when it comes to boots on a budget, and we actually posted a photo of these a few weeks back when we first spotted them in Dundrum. The bottom colour looks very dark in the photo, but they’re actually more of a camel colour than tan like they look! Again, these would be gorgeous with jeans and dresses, and with the €15 price tag, you simply cannot go wrong!
8. Right About Now Western Pointed Chelsea Ankle Boots (ASOS, €52.54)
If you’re looking for a little twist on a classic style, this is it! This gorgeous oxblood colour features again with these ASOS boots, and as we said in our post on bombers, it’s bang on trend for A/W. These would add a perfect pop of colour to any plain outfit, without being OTT.
