Don’t you just hate the question “If you could only take one beauty product with you to a desert island, what would it be”? How could any human being possibly choose just one!? We’ve compiled a list of our must have products for summer. We’ve (miraculously) narrowed it down to six can’t-live-without hero products.
Botanics Radiance Balm
Who doesn’t want dewy, fresh, Victoria Secrets model skin, especially during the summer? There are tonnes of foundations out there claiming to offer this but for me, these often tend to be too moisturising for my skin, and leaving me more greasy than glowing. But not to worry my fellow oily ladies, there are ways around this. At the moment, I’m in love with the Botanics Radiance Balm that moisturises, while leaving gorgeous illuminated finish. I use a little bit of this under my primer to give my foundation a fresh and light look. It’s also a total dupe for MAC’s Strobe Cream…winning!
For those of you who have started to follow us here at The Dupe Diaries, you will soon learn that I amthe lipstick queen. It’s a minor addiction, major obsession. I can become super lazy during the summer when it comes to makeup, especially Monday to Friday in work, so I often resort to a statement lip to dial up my look. My current favourite is MAC’s bright orange Morange – a birthday present courtesy of the lovely Claire (PS. Can anyone tell us how to pronounce Morange? We’ve been struggling with it…a lot!) Another must have lipstick for both of us is Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Coral-ine. Such a flattering shade!
This has been my absolute saviour the last few weeks. Having recently started working in an office, I find my skin has become really dry looking and dehydrated from the air conditioning. I keep a small MAC Fix+ spray at my desk to pump a bit of moisture into my skin and refresh my makeup during the day. This is great product to take away on holidays, to use on the plane or by the pool.
La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF
Any beauty addict worth their salt will list SPF as a general must-have, not least during summer when those rays are at their strongest (in theory…we live in Ireland people). We’ve mentioned La-Roche-Posay Anthelios before, and whether using its gel or cream formula, it’s a firm favourite.
Aloe BB Cream
I hate heavy makeup during the summer, especially when I’m away. I love the dewy look this Aloe BB Cream gives, with surprisingly good coverage – I’d say it’s on the medium side of things. It does need powder over it, as I find it a little shiny otherwise. Made of natural ingredients, it’s much better for your skin, and can even be mixed with your normal foundation if you prefer a heavier coverage. I actually started distributing these products myself a few months ago because I’m a huge fan of their range, and got this as a freebie to try…has been a permanent fixture in my make-up bag since!
Bourjois Paris BB Bronzing Cream 8-in-1
Matching your foundation colour with your body colour…the struggle is real! A bit of a colour from holidays or a little more fake tan than usual and you’re stuck with your normally perfect, now pasty foundation. Some people invest in a darker shade of their foundation for summer, but this little beauty will sort you right out. A few drops of the Bourjois Paris BB Bronzing Cream mixed with your normal shade will sort you right out, meaning that you can adjust your foundation shade as your tan changes, without the need for multiple bottles of foundation!
